Supported living

Your own place.
Support around it.

Supported living means holding your own tenancy and having care arranged around your life in it — rather than moving into a setting and fitting around theirs.

What it involves

Independence first, support second

The balance is deliberate. Support covers what someone genuinely needs help with, and steps back everywhere else.

Your own tenancy

You hold the tenancy for your home. Support is a separate arrangement, so your housing does not depend on who provides your care.

Support hours that fit

Hours are agreed around what is actually needed — mornings, evenings, overnight, or a mix — and reviewed as things change.

Daily living skills

Practical help with cooking, budgeting, appointments and getting out, with the aim of doing more independently over time.

Health and safety at home

Medication support, risk planning and coordination with GPs and community teams, agreed with you and written down.

A life outside the front door

Support to keep up work, college, hobbies, faith and family — the things that make a place home rather than an address.

Reviewed properly

Regular reviews with you and anyone you want involved, so support goes up or down honestly as needs change.

Questions

Supported living, explained

How quickly can care start?
It depends on need and availability. After the first conversation we will tell you honestly what we can do and when, rather than promise a date we cannot keep.
Can we choose the times of visits?
Yes. Visits are planned around the routine that already works. If a time needs to change later, we adjust the plan with you.
Will it be the same carer each time?
We build small teams around each person so the faces stay familiar. Complete continuity is not always possible with holidays and illness, but consistency is the goal.
What is the difference between home care and supported living?
Home care is support delivered in a home someone already has. Supported living means having your own tenancy, with support arranged around it so you keep control of your own place.

Considering supported living?

We will talk through how it works, what it would involve, and whether it is the right fit — with no pressure either way.
